Mini-conference:
This workshop will be a mini-conference, and the expected number of attendees is about 25-40. Paper presentations and discussions will be scheduled in the workshop.

Workshop Overview

The theme of this workshop is the applications of Game-based Learning and Gamification Instructional strategy in elementary and high school. These applications including designing and employing digital education games, as well as the theoretical development, educational game demonstrations, empirical studies, case studies, action researches and practices of adapting technology with gamification mechanisms in elementary and high school education. This workshop would be organized in varied formats of research presentation, including oral presentations or live demonstrations of the proposed educational games. Researchers, elementary and high school teachers as well as practitioners in education related industries are welcome to attend this workshop.


Call For Papers & Paper submission

The 1st Workshop on “Digital Game-Based Leaning and Gamification Instructional Strategies for K-12 Schools” will be held on December, 4-8, 2017 in Christchurch, New Zealand. This workshop seeks for full, short papers, live demonstrations and practices of Game-Based leaning and Gamification Instructional Strategy in Elementary and High School.:

 

The aims of this workshop are to provide a platform for the academic researchers, elementary and high school teachers, instructional designers and developers around the world to communicate on the instructional design and teaching experiences that involved game-based learning and gamification. Topics in this workshop include the applications of game-based learning design, development of educational games, gamified teaching plan and practices in elementary and high schools. This workshop is to be organized as an interactive session for a half-day. Besides oral paper presentations, the participants are encouraged to introduce live demonstrations for their proposed educational games, which are expected to promote the interaction and communication among participants.

● Process Analysis of Game-Based Learning and Gamified Teaching Activity
● Students’ Feedbacks on Game-Based Learning and Gamified Teaching Activity
● Interface Design of Digital Educational Game
● Adapting Technology in Board Game or Physical Game
● Management of Teacher Community for Game-Based Learning and Gamified Teaching
● Social Culture Issues on Game-Based Learning and Gamified Teaching

2. make sure the format follows the template in the Author Guidelines of ICCE 2017

Huei-Tse Hou is a Distinguished Professor of Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Technology, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. His research interest focuses on Game-based Learning and behavioral pattern analysis. He is also the Director of Mini-Educational Game development Group in E-learning Research Center in National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST MEG). He serves as an editorial board member or a reviewer for more than 15 international academic journals.

Shu-Ming Wang is an Associate professor in the Department of Information Management, School of Continuing Education at Chinese Culture University.
